Linocut for Teens

$100.00
Only 6 available

TEEN COURSE: One day | 5 hours

Hang out at The Armarie Room and explore linocut! Join us for a hands on course that combines carving and printing to produce bold, sharp imagery.

Linocuts are a method of relief printing. In this class you will learn how to use carving tools to create an image that can be inked and printed. By varying the carved marks, spectacular effects can be created with this single colour process.

To ensure success we will be using soft carving blocks. These blocks are smooth, hold fine lines and carve like butter. You will find the whole process very satisfying and gain great results. Our beautiful cast iron press will be used to transfer your artwork from block to paper. You will also be taught how to print with a hand baren, so you can continue to explore this fine printmaking tradition in your home or at school.

Whether you are new to print or looking to refresh your understanding, this is a fantastic way to explore a variety of techniques in our purpose-designed studio.

Participants learn in a small, friendly group and will take home beautifully printed original works of art on paper. Students are encouraged to bring along any images or drawings they would like to work from.

★★★★★

“I've done a printing workshop over a weekend and Renée was a great guide and generous teacher. She has a lot of wisdom about things printerish and has a very inclusive reassuring way of passing on her knowledge. And I loved using those old presses.”
